Senior Building Performance Analyst
About The Position
Vanderweil Engineers is seeking a Senior Building Performance Engineer to join their growing Building Performance Group. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on world-class projects and contribute to sustainability goals. The Senior Building Performance Engineer will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to provide analyses and insights for complex client challenges. Responsibilities include proposing energy, water, and carbon reduction opportunities, evaluating designs for performance optimization, leading junior engineers in calculations and reporting, researching energy codes and policies, and performing various analyses such as life-cycle cost, solar feasibility, and water reduction studies.
Requirements
- 7-15 years of building performance analysis or design engineering in a consulting environment.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, energy systems, or architectural engineering.
- Experience interfacing with internal and external clients.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with eQuest, IES, EnergyPlus, or similar, and the ability to generate spreadsheet energy calculations.
- Holds a PE registration.
- LEED AP BD+C, BEMP, CPHC, and/or CEM Credential
- Experience mentoring, training, or overseeing work of less experienced engineers
- Field experience including performing field surveys for energy audits, observation of construction progress, commissioning, and/or operating a facility.
- HVAC design experience
Responsibilities
- Propose holistic energy, water, and carbon reduction opportunities early in the design process, and back those ideas up with rigorous analysis and thoughtful data visualizations to clearly communicate complex concepts.
- Evaluate architectural and MEP system design to optimize performance and track progress toward project goals.
- Lead junior engineers to create complex energy savings calculations and technical client-facing reports. Educate, delegate, and provide quality control for their analysis efforts.
- Research and synthesize applicable energy codes & policies. Compare compliance paths to advise owners and design teams and minimize risks to projects.
- Perform life-cycle cost analyses, solar photovoltaic feasibility analyses, and water reduction studies.
