About The Position

Bring your building inspection expertise to the Town of Prescott Valley where your knowledge and leadership will make an impact! The Town of Prescott Valley is seeking an experienced Senior Building Inspector to join our Development Services team. In this role, you’ll combine hands-on field inspection and plan review with the opportunity to serve as a technical resource and leader for the inspection team. You’ll work directly with contractors, property owners, design professionals, and the public to interpret code requirements, resolve complex construction issues, and help ensure development throughout the Town meets adopted standards and safeguards public health and safety.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education in a trades program
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ journey-level experience in construction inspection
  • ICC or equivalent certifications required: Residential and Commercial Building Inspector and Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector
  • Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license and eligible to drive on behalf of the Town.

  • Strong Code Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of adopted building codes and standards, with the ability to interpret and apply complex code requirements.
  • Commercial Inspection Experience: Significant experience inspecting commercial construction, remodels, tenant improvements, and complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hands-on field inspection and plan review.
  • Serve as a technical resource and leader for the inspection team.
  • Work directly with contractors, property owners, design professionals, and the public to interpret code requirements.
  • Resolve complex construction issues.
  • Ensure development throughout the Town meets adopted standards and safeguards public health and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor inspectors.
  • Promote consistent application of codes and department policies.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with contractors, architects, engineers, property owners, and City staff.
  • Produce clear, concise, and defensible inspection reports.
  • Maintain complete inspection records.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, engineering documents, and approved plans.
  • Verify field compliance.
  • Manage inspection workload and priorities.
  • Demonstrate reliability, consistency, integrity, and attention to detail.
