About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their growing Bridges & Structure’s team in Albany and Syracuse, NY. Their bridge experts partner with clients to understand project objectives, formulating solutions that are safe, efficient, economical, and sensitive to the environment. This highly skilled team offers a full range of bridge services, from scoping, planning, and preliminary engineering through final design, for small to large scale bridges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required
  • 8+ years of professional design engineering work related to bridges or structures is required
  • PE license is required in New York State (or through reciprocity)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness for continued learning
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree is a plus
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation is a plus
  • Knowledge of NYSDOT, AASHTO and AREMA design codes a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and assigned staff on bridge projects.
  • Develop work plans for bridge designs while coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Perform cost estimating, develop specifications/construction documents, and lead construction phase support tasks.
  • Assist in the mentoring and development of design staff.
  • Participate in the development and updates of internal standards of practices.
  • Perform quality control and assurance checks on design computations, computer modeling, CAD drawings, reports, estimates and specifications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
  • Act as quality coordinator for discipline led projects.
  • Assist in the development of technical narratives, scope and fee for project pursuits.
  • May serve on professional association committees.
  • May stamp/sign drawings or reports and/or serve as Engineer of Record for the project.
