Arcadis is looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer with proven experience to join our ever-growing Bridge team of professionals and technical experts in Canada. The Bridge team is involved in the pursuit and delivery of major bridge and structure rehabilitation and design projects across Canada. You will use your knowledge and understanding of bridge engineering and construction methods to manage and successfully deliver multidisciplinary bridge inspection, analysis, rehabilitation, and design projects for both private and public sector clients, from planning through to detailed design stages and into construction.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 15 years or more of recent progressive related bridge engineering design experience, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta or BC.
  • Proficiency with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6).
  • Working knowledge of any of MTO Standards, AT Standards, and BC MOTI standards is a must.
  • Technical knowledge of bridge engineering design and analysis principles.
  • Excellent technical report writing experience and skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling analysis software (CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil) is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Seismic analysis and design experience is an asset.
  • Experience on MTO projects and qualify for RAQS will be considered as an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products for a diverse portfolio of bridge rehabilitation and new design projects, ranging from small to large scale.
  • Ensuring that all work meets and exceeds customer quality requirements, guiding projects from concept through construction.
  • Leading a team to define project problems, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight throughout each phase.
  • Performing complex technical engineering tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all deliverables.
  • Preparing and checking detailed engineering calculations, models, drawings, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Preparing procurement documents, comprehensive design packages, proposals, and thorough analyses.
  • Offering technical engineering services during construction by reviewing contractor submissions, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and maintaining strong working relationships with clients.
  • Performing inspections of existing complex bridges and other structures.
  • Coordinating and leading inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants.
  • Providing recommendations for renewal and repairs.
  • Completing life cycle cost analyses to inform decision-making.
  • Taking a leading role in project pursuits, which includes determining budget estimates, assessing staffing requirements, and writing compelling, successful proposals to secure new work.
  • Performing Project Management duties, such as assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, and ensuring the quality of all deliverables.
  • Maintaining client relationships, managing financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Working to tight project schedules.
  • Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and less experienced engineers.
  • Supporting the growth and development of your team across multiple projects.
