About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Senior Brand & Graphic Designer to join University Advancement. This role is responsible for developing and executing visual communications across print, digital, and environmental platforms to support various initiatives including campaigns, major gift initiatives, cultivation, stewardship, alumni engagement, and executive/board-level materials. The position requires advanced design expertise, strong brand judgment, and the ability to translate complex advancement priorities into clear, compelling visual systems. The Senior Brand & Graphic Designer will lead the design of the University's alumni magazine, 'Nevada Silver & Blue,' and will provide creative leadership and supervision to freelance designers, student workers, and other design contributors. Additionally, this role involves developing scalable brand templates in Canva, Adobe Express, and PowerPoint for non-designer users within Advancement and serving as a strategic design consultant to development, stewardship, events, and alumni engagement teams. The position operates with significant creative autonomy, ensuring all materials adhere to institutional brand standards. It reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications for University Advancement and collaborates closely with advancement leadership, front-line fundraisers, alumni engagement, and central marketing/communications to advance philanthropic goals while maintaining visual consistency and brand integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or a related discipline and five (5) years of professional work experience OR Master’s Degree in a related discipline and three (3) years of professional work experience.
  • Professional graphic design experience with a documented portfolio demonstrating work across print, digital, and environmental platforms.
  • Experience managing brand identity systems or closely related work.
