Senior Bookkeeper — Multi-Station Accounting

EMS Unlimited•Grand Junction, CO
•$80,000

About The Position

EMS Unlimited is hiring a Senior Bookkeeper to own day-to-day bookkeeping across its stations and cost centers. The role covers multiple bank accounts, a company-wide corporate card program, and eleven separate station/cost-center ledgers in a multi-state business with several active lending facilities and seasonal wildfire-response revenue. The position is intended to sit between bookkeeping and controller work: it does not set financial strategy, run payroll, or manage staff. The bookkeeper ensures transactions are accurately coded, reconciliations are completed on time, and financials are ready to report. The role supports monthly close and provides accurate, audit-ready financials to the Fractional CFO/CAO. Payroll is handled separately by the Payroll team through the company's PEO. This is full W-2 employment with no contractor arrangements. Salary is commensurate with experience.

  • Hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including multi-entity or multi-location bookkeeping.
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable/accounts receivable, and bank/card reconciliation experience.
  • Solid Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups.
  • Ability to own books independently with minimal oversight and know when to escalate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with corporate card/expense platforms such as Divvy, BILL Spend & Expense, or similar.
  • Exposure to government/federal contract accounting or compliance-grade recordkeeping.
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.
  • Healthcare, EMS, ambulance, or transportation industry background.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the general ledger in QuickBooks Online across EMS Unlimited stations and cost centers, keeping station-level P&Ls clean and current.
  • Code and reconcile corporate card activity by station using Divvy/BILL Spend & Expense.
  • Manage accounts payable through Bill.com for check-required vendors.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts.
  • Maintain the company's debt schedule, tracking balances, payment timing, and maturity dates across active lending facilities.
  • Support monthly close and deliver accurate, audit-ready financials to the Fractional CFO/CAO.
  • Coordinate with the payroll team on payroll-related general ledger entries.
  • Identify and flag inconsistencies before they become problems.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive benefits administered through the company's PEO.
