About The Position

Invivoscribe is seeking to add a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist. The Senior Bioinformatics Scientist is responsible for leading a team of bioinformatics scientists and associates in the analysis of complex NGS datasets. This involves coding, maintaining and troubleshooting analytical pipelines and software that meet the high regulatory standards for diagnostic cancer assays. Invivoscribe is an industry pioneer and global leader in precision oncology diagnostics, developing and manufacturing a comprehensive portfolio of molecular and flow cytometry assays, reagents, controls, and bioinformatics tools under ISO 13485 design control. Our products and services support over 700 clinical laboratories in over 160 countries.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, molecular biology, or related field with, typically, 5+ years of applicable post-graduate experience. M.S. degree in bioinformatics or related field and 7+ years of applicable post-graduate experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive background in applying biostatistics to biological datasets.
  • Extensive background in immunology and/or cancer research.
  • Experience with the analysis of next generation sequence (NGS) data and knowledge/familiarity with various NGS platforms and NGS protocols.
  • Experience with Linux and fluency in at least one programming language (e.g., Perl, Python) with the capability to quickly learn and adopt new tools.
  • Experience in providing technical leadership to teams of bioinformatics scientists, with cooperation amongst multi-disciplinary project teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with R is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, troubleshoots and improves existing bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and software.
  • Actively leads a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and Associates in the data analysis for NGS projects.
  • Designs and implements novel computational and statistical approaches and frameworks to analyze and interpret complex NGS data sets.
  • Manages analytical activities to ensure scope and timeline meet the aims of Invivoscribe.
  • Regularly communicates accomplishments and progress to team members and management.
  • Proactively communicates with co-workers to help ensure analytical goals are achieved.
  • Coordinates and interacts closely with other scientists on data quality and file management; implements these formats and metrics for project data.
  • Conducts genetic interpretation and application of results from NGS data.
