About The Position

This position is responsible for fulfilling Genesis' mission of providing compassionate, quality healthcare for oxygen and sleep therapy in a courteous, professional, and compassionate manner. The role involves assisting customers with questions regarding the safe use of oxygen and sleep therapy equipment and supplies, interpreting insurance guidelines, and communicating billing and financial responsibilities to customers. The Senior Billing Associate Coordinator also acts as a mentor to new employees, providing training and guidance.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to proficiently operate an adding machine and cash register.
  • Must be able to input and retrieve data from Genesis Oxygen & Sleep Therapy’s computer system.
  • Willing to be educated and become proficient in the sale of oxygen and sleep therapy supplies.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience with oxygen and sleep therapy billing is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of oxygen and sleep therapy products and billing requirements.
  • Acts as the front-line communication with customers, referral sources, and third-party payors to enhance positive outcomes.
  • Obtains valid orders, Certificates of Medical Necessity, Face-To-Face chart notes, and insurance prior authorizations before dispensing product.
  • Answers phones, takes referrals, verifies insurance coverage, and performs data entry for billing purposes.
  • Prepares prior authorization paperwork as needed and in accordance with policies.
  • Balances the cash register and prepares daily deposit.
  • Completes proper paperwork and is proficient and accountable in all processes of data entry.
  • Completes orders from intake, confirmations, and inputs billing charges.
  • Handles point-of-sale procedures, including collection of copays.
  • Responsible for timely handling of all phone calls, faxes, and electronically submitted orders.
  • Follows up on insurance denials and unreasonable reductions in allowed charges.
  • Collects past due balances from insurance companies and patients.
  • Compiles needed reports for tracking of accounts to support the department manager.
  • Serves as a mentor to new employees and provides training and guidance.
  • Reports directly to the Store Manager/Supervisor all issues/obstacles/patterns affecting billing/collections/Aging.
  • Retrieves information from the EPIC system.
  • Promotes and drives continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Documents customer complaints and completes the follow-up process.
  • Completes all required educational in-services and CBL’s.
  • Completes other duties assigned by the Store Manager or Director of Genesis Pharmacies and Genesis Oxygen & Sleep Therapy.
