Senior BI ETL Test Engineer
About The Position
Capgemini is hiring a Senior BI ETL Test Engineer for an onsite role in Phoenix, Arizona. The engineer tests business intelligence and ETL systems, validating business data flows, ETL processes, data lineage, architecture, and data integrity. The role includes testing SAP BW and SAP HANA environments and validating SAP BW reports with BEx Analyzer and BEx Query Designer. The engineer designs and executes ETL testing strategies, verifies source-to-target mappings, performs reconciliation and regression testing, analyzes defects, and works with development and business teams to resolve data quality issues. Responsibilities also include defining test plans and cases, evaluating tools and methodologies, assessing technical feasibility and risk, estimating test effort, and supporting project delivery. The position requires independent technical support and guidance as well as ownership of specialized testing projects.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in BI and ETL testing, including end-to-end data flows, data warehouses, data marts, and reporting solutions.
- Strong expertise in data validation, source-to-target mapping, data reconciliation, data lineage verification, and ETL process testing.
- Proficiency writing and executing complex SQL queries for data analysis, validation, defect investigation, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience testing ETL tools and data integration platforms such as Informatica, SSIS, DataStage, Talend, Azure Data Factory, and Snowflake-based solutions.
- Skills developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks for large-scale data migration and BI projects.
- Capability in defect analysis and troubleshooting, and collaboration with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Experience conducting technical feasibility studies, risk assessments, and test effort estimation.
- Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, dimensional modeling, star and snowflake schemas, and BI reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Cognos.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and ALM, and CI/CD practices for data-driven applications.
- Ability to support data quality, regulatory compliance, and business readiness through testing and validation.
Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end testing of BI and ETL systems, including validating business data flows, ETL processes, data lineage, and data integrity across SAP BW and SAP HANA environments.
- Validate BI reporting systems to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Design and execute ETL testing strategies, including data validation, source-to-target mapping verification, reconciliation, and regression testing.
- Test SAP BW reports using BEx Analyzer and BEx Query Designer, validating data transformation, aggregation, and reporting results.
- Analyze data validation defects, identify root causes, and collaborate with development and business teams to resolve them.
- Define testing strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Assess technical feasibility, risks, testing best practices, and test effort for BI/ETL initiatives.
- Recommend and use suitable testing tools and methodologies.
- Own delivery of specialized testing projects and provide technical support and guidance.
