About The Position

The Senior BI Data Modeler will modernize complex Excel-based insurance analytics and reporting solutions by migrating them to Power BI. The role involves analyzing Excel formulas, VBA macros, VBScript, and Power Query transformations, then translating business logic into DAX calculations and scalable Power BI data models. The position is focused on data modeling, calculations, and validation—not visualization alone. The successful candidate will build interactive dashboards for regional comparisons, cost and impact analysis, KPIs, and projections; validate Power BI results against existing Excel reports; and optimize KPI performance. This is a remote position in the insurance or financial analytics domain, with work hours that must overlap with US Eastern Time for a few hours.

Requirements

7+ years of experience.
Hands-on experience migrating complex Excel-based insurance analytics and reporting solutions to Power BI.
Strong expertise in Power BI, DAX, complex calculations, data modeling, semantic models, and star schema.
Experience with Power Query/M and ETL.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and calculation dependencies.
Ability to analyze VBA/VBScript and Excel reporting processes.
Experience with SQL, data reconciliation, and validation.
Experience with KPI validation and performance optimization.
Experience with forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario-based reporting.
Ability to overlap work hours with US Eastern Time for a few hours.

Responsibilities

Migrate complex Excel-based insurance analytics and reporting solutions to Power BI.
