We are looking for a Senior Benefits Consultant to be responsible for supporting comprehensive benefits strategies that optimize employee satisfaction and retention while ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting collective bargaining negotiations and labor agreements.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare, retirement, and welfare benefit programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across Labor Relations, HR, Finance, Legal, and vendor partners.
  • Experience translating complex contractual and regulatory requirements into business solutions.
  • Strong project management and implementation leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and present to Senior Leadership.
  • Excellent executive communication and presentation abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
  • 3+ years of related experience in employee benefits, ideally in supporting represented employee populations.
  • Certification is required in some areas.

Responsibilities

  • Serving as the benefits subject matter expert supporting collective bargaining negotiations and partnering with our Labor Relations, Legal, Finance and HR teams to develop benefit recommendations for represented employees.
  • Analyzing, developing, and recommending healthcare, retirement, and wellbeing benefit strategies that balance employee value, market competitiveness, contractual obligations, and financial stewardship.
  • Performing and interpreting financial analysis of benefit plan trends, developing and analyzing data to evaluate trends, and ensuring cost-effectiveness of benefits programs.
  • Leading cross-functional implementations of benefit changes resulting from collective bargaining agreements, partnering with vendors, payroll, HR, communications, and operational teams to ensure successful execution and employee readiness.
  • Ensuring all benefits programs comply with collectively bargained agreements and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Interpreting benefit plan provisions, insurance policy documents, and collective bargaining contracts to support consistent administration and risk mitigation.
  • Developing benefits strategies aligned with business objectives, managing relationships with vendors/benefits providers, and negotiating contracts to secure the best value.
  • Supporting processes related to interpretation of collective bargaining contracts, project management, employee engagement, and/or risk management.
