About The Position

Seeking a highly experienced Senior Benefits Consultant to join a team. This role involves partnering with Boards of Trustees, Fund Offices, and union/employer leadership to guide plan design, financial strategy, compliance, and long-term sustainability. The ideal candidate will thrive in complex environments, build trusted relationships with stakeholders, and bring both strategic vision and technical expertise to client engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in health & welfare consulting, with significant experience serving Taft-Hartley or multiemployer plans.
  • Deep understanding of collectively bargained benefit structures and trustee governance models.
  • Expertise in health plan funding strategies, reserve analysis, contribution modeling, and claims evaluation.
  • Strong executive presence and experience presenting to Boards of Trustees.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engagements while advancing client growth opportunities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling.
  • Working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and multiemployer compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • CEBS designation or actuarial/underwriting training.
  • Maryland Health & Life license (or ability to obtain within the first year).
  • Experience supporting jointly managed labor-management benefit funds.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead advisor to assigned Taft-Hartley and multiemployer health & welfare plans.
  • Partner with Boards of Trustees and Fund leadership to develop sustainable benefit strategies.
  • Conduct and present detailed claims analysis, contribution modeling, and long-term funding projections.
  • Lead renewal strategy, carrier negotiations, and vendor performance management.
  • Design and implement medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life, disability, and specialty benefit programs.
  • Guide trustees through regulatory requirements, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other multiemployer regulations.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, benchmarking analyses, and strategic recommendations at trustee meetings.
  • Oversee RFP processes and vendor transitions, ensuring alignment with fund objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver actuarial, underwriting, compliance, and analytics services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and cultivate new Taft-Hartley business opportunities.
  • Participate in finalist presentations, industry conferences, and relationship-building within the labor and multiemployer community.
  • Mentor consultants and analysts supporting Taft-Hartley engagements.
