About The Position

Mercury is hiring a Senior Benefits Account Manager for Central, a Mercury acquisition that provides payroll, benefits, HR, compliance, government filings, and related services. The role serves as the human layer behind Central’s benefits product, combining customer guidance with licensed brokerage expertise. The account manager helps customers design benefits packages suited to their teams and business stage, manages enrollment and renewals, maintains accurate insurance information, and resolves complex benefits issues. The role also contributes to reliable internal processes that prevent missed enrollments and supports customers proactively throughout the client lifecycle.

Requirements

Active Life & Health broker license; required for consideration.
Experience selling or administering small-group benefits across multiple states, focused on SMBs and startups.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to build resilient systems and processes.
Deep customer empathy and a focus on what is best for the customer.
Clear, direct communication and ability to explain complex benefits decisions in plain English to first-time founders.
Performance among the top 5% of peers, with colleagues who would agree.

Responsibilities

Guide customers in designing benefits packages and selecting plans appropriate for their teams and stage of business.
Own the end-to-end enrollment process, including completing and submitting insurance forms accurately and on time.
Keep systems updated with accurate health insurance information.
Communicate proactively with customers to resolve issues before they become problems.
Build and refine internal processes to ensure enrollments are not missed.
Solve complex and ambiguous benefits problems involving carriers, platforms, and regulations.
Manage the client lifecycle at renewal, helping customers choose options and running open enrollment.
