About The Position

Benbase is seeking a Senior Account Manager to lead strategic client relationships and deliver exceptional benefits consulting. This role involves balancing hands-on execution with strategic consulting, acting as a trusted advisor to clients. The Senior Account Manager will guide clients through renewals, manage complex benefits challenges, and provide innovative solutions. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI-powered tools and automation, collaborate with growth-focused clients, and mentor the Account Management team. This role is crucial in shaping service delivery standards and contributing to Benbase's growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of benefits consulting experience
  • 5+ years of independently managing accounts
  • Active life & health insurance license
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge of benefit products, funding structures, and compliance
  • Proficient with benefits platforms and AI/automation tools
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen
  • Strategic consulting and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills (executive presentations, public speaking)
  • Executive relationship building with a track record of retention
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
  • Self-motivated with strong independent judgment
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for innovation
  • Candidates must be based in California
  • Recent experience supporting California-based employer groups of 50-500 employees

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish fluency is a big plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; fluency in Spanish is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of 20-40 complex clients through the full benefits lifecycle, including renewal strategy, carrier negotiation, compliance management, and open enrollment.
  • Design innovative solutions informed by data and market trends.
  • Foster executive-level relationships and serve as the trusted advisor.
  • Develop and present strategic deliverables, such as renewal presentations, financial reporting, member education, and compliance management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage technology, streamline workflows, and enhance client experience.
  • Mentor Account Managers through active coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with leadership to refine workflows, implement process improvements, and drive service delivery excellence.
