About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer / Consultant to join a government Product & Engineering team supporting a mission-critical E-Citations application. The role is hands-on and responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and supporting secure, scalable backend services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on backend software engineering and enterprise application development.
  • Strong expertise in C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
  • Strong cloud-native development experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with serverless and containers, such as Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, Kubernetes/AKS, ECS/Fargate, GKE, or Cloud Run.
  • Experience with event-driven/workflow technologies such as Durable Functions, Step Functions, Temporal, Kafka, Event Hub, Pub/Sub, SNS, or SQS.
  • Strong enterprise integration experience with REST, SOAP, API gateways, SFTP/PGP, message queues, polling, retry, idempotency, and deduplication.
  • Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, RBAC/IAM, TLS, encryption, secrets management, and secure coding.
  • Strong SQL Server/PostgreSQL and NoSQL experience, including data modeling, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, audit trails, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.
  • Strong experience with automated testing, logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ability to independently deliver complex, production-ready backend solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft stack: .NET/ASP.NET Core, C#, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Azure API Management.
  • iOS-to-backend integration experience.
  • Public-sector, public-safety, transportation, case-management, workflow-driven, or other mission-critical enterprise applications.
  • CJIS or comparable security/compliance experience.
  • Power BI or similar operational reporting/analytics experience.
  • Legacy system integration and modernization.
  • High-volume transaction processing and near-real-time enterprise integrations.
  • Relevant Azure, AWS, security, or DevOps certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support .NET/C# backend services and integrations.
  • Build secure REST/SOAP APIs integrating iOS, enterprise, and legacy systems.
  • Develop workflow automation, business rules, state-machine logic, and event-driven processing.
  • Implement resilient real-time/near-real-time, messaging, SFTP, and batch integrations, including retry, idempotency, and deduplication.
  • Develop and optimize SQL/NoSQL data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, audit logging, reporting, and performance.
  • Implement OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, RBAC/IAM, TLS, encryption, secrets management, and Secure SDLC practices.
  • Support CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, automated testing, logging, monitoring, observability, and production diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
  • Participate in Agile sprints, code reviews, testing, releases, technical documentation, and occasional after-hours production support.
  • Collaborate with Product, iOS, QA, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, and enterprise integration teams.
