About The Position

Red Hawk Technologies, after acquiring Transform Labs, is seeking a talented and experienced backend software engineer. This role involves designing, developing, and testing scalable server-side applications and services using modern technologies. The engineer will work directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver reliable solutions. This position offers the opportunity to support multiple clients in a remote, stable, long-term contract engagement.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with direct client-facing experience required.
Strong programming skills in Java and Node.js.
Experience with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
Experience with Microsoft Azure (App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL/Storage, or similar).
Experience with RESTful API design and development.
Experience with Git and other version control systems.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent client management, communication, and teamwork skills — comfortable presenting technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
Understanding of modern DevOps principles.

Nice To Haves

Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with messaging/event systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus).

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test backend applications and services using Java, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and services on Microsoft Azure.
Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly.
Work with other engineers to design and implement software architecture, including APIs and microservices.
Write unit tests and follow test-driven development practices.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications alongside product managers and stakeholders.
Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
Debug and troubleshoot software issues across the stack, including in live client environments.
Manage client expectations and priorities on multiple concurrent projects.
