Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
Seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to implement, configure, manage, and provide guidance on cloud infrastructure in VDOTs Azure environment. The resource will be responsible for providing expert guidance on the design, implementation, configuration, and governance of Azure resources, networking, and security policies. They will implement, maintain, and monitor mission-critical cloud resources in a large enterprise environment, manage and optimize enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations, and plan, lead, and execute cloud migration initiatives. The role requires in-depth experience working with other areas of IT such as architecture, security, development, and governance, and providing operational support and troubleshooting for production applications and infrastructure. The engineer will utilize security tools such as Tenable to manage vulnerability remediation and improve security posture, build meaningful observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Workbooks, Alerts, and related tooling, and develop and maintain robust disaster recovery (DR) strategies. Strong networking knowledge, including OSI model concepts, core network protocols, and network-level troubleshooting, is also essential.
Requirements
- Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and providing guidance on resources & infrastructure in Microsoft Azure
- Experience with Terraform (highly-preferred) or at a minimum, other IaC methods (ARM, Bicep, etc.)
- Experience planning and executing migrations from on-premises environments to Azure
- Experience working in mission-critical enterprise environments and implementing backup & DR strategies
- Experience implementing networking and security policies in Azure
- Experience using Azure Monitor for alerting, observability, and dashboards
- Experience with vulnerability remediation & working on security initiatives
- Demonstrate strong networking knowledge, including OSI model concepts, core network protocols, and network-level troubleshooting.
