About The Position

Seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to implement, configure, manage, and provide guidance on cloud infrastructure in VDOTs Azure environment. Additionally, the resource will be responsible for providing expert guidance on the design, implementation, configuration, and governance of Azure resources, networking, and security policies. The role involves implementing, maintaining, and monitoring mission-critical cloud resources in a large enterprise environment, managing and optimizing enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations, and planning, leading, and executing cloud migration initiatives. The engineer will also have in-depth experience working with other areas of IT such as architecture, security, development, and governance, provide operational support and troubleshooting for production applications and infrastructure, utilize security tools such as Tenable for vulnerability remediation, build observability solutions using Azure Monitor, and develop robust disaster recovery strategies. Strong networking knowledge, including OSI model concepts, core network protocols, and network-level troubleshooting, is also required.

Requirements

• Experience implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and providing guidance on resources & infrastructure in Microsoft Azure (10 years)
• Experience with Terraform (highly-preferred) or at a minimum, other IaC methods (ARM, Bicep, etc.) (7 years)
• Experience planning and executing migrations from on-premises environments to Azure (10 years)
• Experience working in mission-critical enterprise environments and implementing backup & DR strategies (10 years)
• Experience implementing networking and security policies in Azure (10 years)
• Experience using Azure Monitor for alerting, observability, and dashboards (10 years)
• Experience with vulnerability remediation & working on security initiatives (10 years)

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Terraform

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on the design, implementation, configuration, and governance of Azure resources, networking, and security policies.
• Implement, maintain, and monitor mission‑critical cloud resources in a large enterprise environment.
• Manage and optimize enterprise backup and disaster recovery operations, ensuring reliability and continuity.
• Plan, lead, and execute cloud migration initiatives, including moving workloads from on‑premises to Azure.
• Provide operational support and troubleshooting for production applications and infrastructure.
• Utilize security tools such as Tenable to manage vulnerability remediation and improve security posture.
• Build meaningful observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Workbooks, Alerts, and related tooling.
• Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery (DR) strategies to minimize downtime and protect critical data.
• Demonstrate strong networking knowledge, including OSI model concepts, core network protocols, and network‑level troubleshooting.
