Senior Autonomy Validation Engineer

Caterpillar•Mossville, IL
•$112,710 - $183,140•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Autonomy Validation Engineer supports Caterpillar’s Command for Hauling (CfH) Autonomous program, focusing on lab-based system integration, validation, simulation, and machine performance analysis. The role primarily supports validation in L8 Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments, collaborating as needed with simulation systems, Test Track, Proving Grounds, and field-support teams. The engineer takes technical ownership of troubleshooting and connects validation results with machine behavior and product performance to improve release quality, reduce risk, and support customer-ready deployments. The position also supports simulation capability development using real machine data, site data, logs, and test results to improve model fidelity, reproduce field issues, and expand shift-left validation coverage. The engineer works with SI&V leads, development teams, product groups, test teams, proving grounds, and field-support partners. This role is based onsite at Caterpillar’s Mossville, Illinois office five days per week and requires up to 10% travel. Domestic relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are available, subject to eligibility. The listed summary pay range is $112,710 to $183,140.
