Systems Engineer, Autonomy Verification and Validation

Zoox•Foster City, CA
•$160,000 - $231,000

About The Position

Zoox is developing a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities and a robotaxi intended for safe public-road deployment. The System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team constructs the safety case and fail-operational design for autonomous driving robots. The Systems Engineer, Autonomy Verification and Validation is a highly cross-functional role working across program management, legal, software, and operations. The engineer contributes to systems engineering solutions that substantiate the safety case for autonomous driving by validating end-to-end performance through real-world and virtual tests, from AI systems through the custom vehicle platform. The role leads the creation of verification and validation methodologies, develops processes and comprehensive validation plans, reviews verification and simulation results, and prepares reports supporting the safety of autonomous software. It is a highly visible position with opportunities for career growth through demonstrated achievement.
