About The Position

Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer focused on software development for positioning and localization. The engineer will collaborate with team members to prototype and productionize algorithms that enable autonomous and semiautonomous systems to localize robustly. The work includes estimating absolute position and altitude, as well as relative position with respect to terrain features and static or mobile equipment, and implementing filters using perception-based, inertial, and GNSS inputs. The role involves solving real-world problems by selecting appropriate approaches, developing prototypes, and bringing solutions into production. The localization developer participates in design, documentation, coding, product quality, and validation, and is expected to write and test high-quality production code. The position is full-time and requires working onsite five days a week at Caterpillar’s Irving, Texas office. Domestic relocation assistance is available, visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants, and the role may require up to 10% travel.
