About The Position
The Senior Automation Engineer will join the Jetsons squad, the intelligent automation engine within the Automation & Productivity group. The role combines RPA delivery, AI integration strategy, and production engineering, with responsibility for architecting, building, and owning automation solutions from the ground up. The engineer evaluates whether RPA, AI, or a hybrid approach is appropriate and maintains the stability of production automations supporting investment operations. The position focuses on UiPath development, React-based interfaces, integration of LLM APIs and AI patterns, and production operations. The engineer collaborates with the Product Owner and business units to scope and deliver automation work, document designs, mentor engineers, and help evaluate emerging automation and AI tools. The role is remote and requires availability during core Eastern Time business hours. The initial engagement is six months, with a strong possibility of extension; it is not contract-to-hire.
Requirements
- Production-level RPA design and delivery experience with UiPath.
- Experience with React 18 or later, TypeScript, component architecture, and integration with REST/API backends.
- Availability for core Eastern Time business hours and sprint/PI ceremonies.
- Experience with automation analysis and design, including process assessment, ROI or cost-saving analysis, solution design, and implementation planning.
- Experience monitoring production environments, triaging incidents, performing root-cause analysis, and remediating live automation issues.
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Anthropic APIs, including RAG pipelines, function calling, and streaming UX patterns.
- Experience participating in PI planning, sprint ceremonies, and backlog refinement; Jira proficiency.
- Knowledge of UiPath, React, TypeScript, LLM/AI APIs, RPA architecture, REST APIs, GitHub Actions/CI-CD, and Jira.
- Sound judgment in choosing between RPA, AI, hybrid approaches, or alternatives, supported by data.
- Production ownership mindset, business-first thinking, and clear communication with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and leadership.
Nice To Haves
- UiPath certifications, such as UiARD or equivalent.
- Experience in financial services, healthcare, or another regulated industry.
- Snowflake querying, pipeline integration, and analytics workflow experience.
- ServiceNow or Salesforce workflow configuration, API integration, or administration experience.
- Python or C# scripting and custom component development within automation pipelines.
- Experience with Arc42, design specifications, API contracts, and operational runbooks.
- Experience with Power BI, SharePoint, RAG pipelines, Azure OpenAI, or SAFe Agile.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, develop, and deploy end-to-end automation solutions across investment workflows, emphasizing business value, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
- Own production automation stability by monitoring live bots, triaging incidents, resolving issues, and maintaining a zero-defect delivery posture.
- Evaluate automation requests and AI capabilities to determine whether RPA, AI, or a hybrid approach is most appropriate.
- Build and maintain React-based front-end interfaces for automation outputs, operational dashboards, and AI-powered workflow tools.
- Integrate LLM APIs and AI patterns, including RAG pipelines, function calling, and streaming interfaces, into automation and operational tooling where applicable.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner in PI planning and sprint ceremonies to translate business requirements into scoped automation epics and user stories.
- Partner with business units to gather requirements, assess automation opportunities, and design workflows that address operational and regulatory needs.
- Document automation architecture, design decisions, and process flows using Arc42 or an equivalent framework.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and establish code quality, review, and AI integration practices.
- Support evaluation and adoption of automation and AI tools, including UiPath Autopilot, agentic workflow frameworks, and Snowflake-integrated data pipelines.
- Represent automation capabilities and interests when collaborating with enterprise Intelligent Automation teams.
- Measure and validate automation impact with business stakeholders, including hours saved, error reduction, and cost avoided.
