About The Position

The Senior Audit Project Manager within U.S. Bank’s Corporate Audit Services (CAS) provides independent assurance and advisory services to evaluate and improve risk management, control, and governance processes across U.S. Bancorp, its affiliates, and majority-owned entities. The role is dedicated to the Payment Services division, which provides credit, debit, and prepaid card issuance as well as merchant authorization and settlement services in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.

The position leads complex Payment Services audit engagements, overseeing risk assessment, audit planning, execution, and reporting while ensuring compliance with internal audit standards and regulatory requirements. It also works with business leaders, risk teams, regulators, and audit staff to deliver comprehensive, high-quality audit results. The role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Typically more than 8 years of applicable experience.
• At least 8 years of audit or risk management experience.
• At least 3 years in project leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of Payment Services industry risks, controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across business lines and risk functions.
• Thorough understanding of IIA Standards and internal control frameworks.
• Ability to work from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a risk-based Payment Services audit plan, identifying auditable entities, assessing risk, and determining audit cycles and resource needs over a 12–18-month horizon.
• Monitor emerging risks and adjust audit plans as appropriate.
• Manage audit projects from planning through fieldwork and reporting.
• Review auditors’ work for accuracy, relevance, and adherence to CAS policies and IIA Standards.
• Draft clear and concise audit reports communicating findings and recommendations.
• Build relationships with Payment Services leadership, risk management teams, and regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate across the three lines of defense to provide comprehensive coverage of processes, risks, and controls.
• Guide, coach, and provide performance feedback to audit staff.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.
• Prepare and review reports for senior management, committees, and regulators for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with cross-functional audit projects and special initiatives as needed.
