In this role you will provide leadership in improving the overall control environment within CIBC while developing and maintaining strong relationships with business partners. As part of this work, you will act as an individual contributor or lead multi-skilled audit teams covering the Wealth Management Line of Business. In addition, you will identify business controls, design audit steps and perform testing of these key controls with the objective of providing an independent opinion on the design and effectiveness of these controls in accordance with industry best practices. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices and accounting principles and processes.
  • Strong knowledge with a focus on Wealth Management (Asset Management, Brokerage and Private Wealth Management) and the related regulatory environment in Canada.
  • Certified professional (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA, CPA, ACCA).
  • Business degree (e.g., M.B.A.).
  • Business experience either in the banking and financial services world or internal / external audit assurance and consulting services.
  • Critical thinking skills to inform decision making.
  • Ability to investigate complex problems and make sense of information.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way.
  • Ability to build trust through respect and authenticity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in improving the overall control environment within CIBC while developing and maintaining strong relationships with business partners.
  • Act as an individual contributor or lead multi-skilled audit teams covering the Wealth Management Line of Business.
  • Identify business controls, design audit steps and perform testing of these key controls with the objective of providing an independent opinion on the design and effectiveness of these controls in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Contribute to developing the division’s risk-based annual audit plan.
  • Plan and manage the execution of audits of large or complex businesses by identifying and fully understanding the key business processes and their inherent risk, the control environment, both at the management or operational levels, and the potential residual risks.
  • Identify significant business control weaknesses, and objectively assess the severity and materiality of the issues and their potential impact in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Drive the reporting component of the audit.
  • Coach team members on their developmental needs and provide leadership during individual assignments as well as team opportunities.
