The Senior Audiovisual Engineer is a key contributor to the Campus Audiovisual Technology Services (CATS) Team in the Information Technology Department of Fort Lewis College. The CATS Team designs, integrates, and supports AV and various automation/control technology in almost all campus spaces. The CATS Team maintains the AV equipment throughout campus to ensure that all students, staff, and community clients are able to use the provided technology. The CATS Team also supports the AV needs of events across all Fort Lewis College spaces, both during and outside of normal business hours. The primary duties of the Senior Audiovisual Engineer include design, integration, and configuration of crucial AV technologies. Expertise should include knowledge of the Q-SYS Designer software, the QSC/Q-SYS ecosystem, the Dante audio protocol, HDBaseT, and other AV routing technologies, as well as understanding basic sound engineering principles. The senior technician leads the efforts in producing large venue events, many of which require live streaming and/or complex audio production. The Senior Audiovisual Engineer must also participate in the standard technician's duties of setup, installation, and the support of AV equipment such as projectors, speakers, microphones, cameras, TVs, monitors, etc. They complete low-voltage wiring, programming, and basic construction related to the installation of media equipment.
