About The Position

The ideal candidate should have at least ten (10) years of defense focused litigation experience representing clients in general civil and/or employment litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate work. A preference will be given to candidates with substantial first and/or second chair trial experience and experience working as part of a team, independently, and with Assistant and Associate Attorneys. The applicant should also be capable of handling all stages of administrative hearings and litigation including developing strategy, preparing and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions, conducting settlement negotiations, and participating in mediation/alternative dispute resolution. Applicants must have experience managing paralegals and/or other litigation support and administrative staff. Experience researching and drafting legislation is a plus. The Senior Attorney IV in this position will report directly to the Deputy City Attorney for Litigation and will have extensive contact with the Atlanta City Council, multiple City Departments, and the governing bodies of several other municipalities. Applicants must possess strong research skills, written and oral communication skills, analytical skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and the interpersonal skills necessary to contribute to a litigation team handling complex legal matters in a fast-paced legal and political environment.

Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of defense focused litigation experience representing clients in general civil and/or employment litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate work.
  • Juris Doctorate degree required.
  • Must be a member of good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
  • Must have at least ten (10) years of post-graduate legal experience.
