About The Position

The Senior Associate position is a senior investment professional position with Mayfair Capital Partners (a division of Oxford Financial Group Ltd.). The Senior Associate is directly responsible for sourcing and analyzing potential new investments and follow-on investments for existing portfolio companies, along with managing relationships with portfolio company executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, operations research or economics plus five years of experience as a private equity investment professional or investment banking analyst or associate
• Must have high energy level, be persistent and have a high-level desire for the activities that comprise private equity investing.
• Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
• Must be able to manage and respond to multiple parties on multiple topics with high work quality
• Must have ability to manage project-like initiatives, follow up rigorously, coordinate with various parties and hold to a preset timetable
• Must have a strong understanding of various business models and their operations (e.g. sales, marketing, manufacturing operations, finance and accounting)
• Must have a strong understanding of accounting and general financial concepts demonstrated through both educational background as well as practical experience
• Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences. A respectful and highly professional approach is of the utmost importance
• Must have a strong ability to formulate abstractions, identify patterns and develop conceptual linkages
• Must be able to develop mental frameworks quickly and then adjust them as information becomes available
• Must have strong desire to learn more and should be taking initiative consistently to do so
• Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and a variety of additional software applications
• Must have a professional demeanor with the utmost respect for confidential matters
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
• Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Reads companies’ financial statements and analyzes their sales, costs, expenses and tax rates in order to determine their value and projected future earnings
• Reviews and analyzes the strengths of prospective investments within a given market, specifically within MCP’s targeted areas of investment (I.e. consumer, SaaS, business services and valued-added distribution)
• Develops industry specific investment themes and, in turn, works with the deal sourcing team to create and manage a thematic related pipeline of new investment opportunities
• Conducts extensive review and due diligence of companies’ operations, financials and accounting, IT infrastructure, organizational dynamics, customers and suppliers
• Builds comprehensive financial and computational models with detailed quantitative analysis on customers, suppliers, historical and projected financial performance, industry forecasts and leveraged buyout analyses using sophisticated analytical techniques
• Manages a team of junior-level investment professionals, internal support staff and external service providers including consultants, banks and legal advisors
• Drafts reports that summarize the investments’ financial data, spotting trends within the industry, and developing forecasts for potential revenues through the use of advanced statistical and financial analysis
• Supports MCP professionals serving on portfolio companies’ Boards of Directors for multiple investments. The Senior Associate will work directly with CFOs of MCP’s portfolio companies on a regular basis to support the management of businesses on tasks including but not limited to: M&A, Sales and operational improvement projects, IT infrastructure and organization development projects, Structuring and negotiating banking arrangements, Ongoing reporting needs
