About The Position

LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The organization is on a mission to create an unparalleled experience for athletes, fans, partners, and the community. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. This presents a unique opportunity to celebrate legacy with the Games and push the Olympic and Paralympic Movements forward. The Senior Associate, Sport Publications, reporting to the Manager, Sport Planning and Operations, will support the planning, coordination, development, and delivery of sport publications and operational sport information for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role will help ensure accurate and timely publication delivery to support key Olympic and Paralympic stakeholders by working closely with Sport Managers and cross-functionally with multiple functional areas including Editorial Services, Technology, National Olympic and Paralympic Committee Services, Accreditation, and Logistics. Sport publications include, but are not limited to, Olympic and Paralympic Sport Guides, Technical Officials Guides, Team Leader Guides, Sport Entries Manual, Freight Manual, Road Course Guide, and Chef de Mission Guide contributions. The role will also support the integration and use of digital tools and emerging technologies to enhance publication workflows, information management, and operational efficiency. In addition, the role will contribute to the development of sport information processes and support Games-time operations for the Sport Information Center (SIC) within Olympic and Paralympic Villages and Sport Information Desks (SID) at competition venues. This position requires strong organizational skills, exceptional editorial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while collaborating with stakeholders across a variety of working styles and operational areas.

Requirements

  • 4 + years of experience in editorial management, publishing, communications, or major event operations
  • Strong organizational, coordination, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and varying communication styles
  • Success managing multiple priorities simultaneously within deadline-driven environments.
  • Ability to synthesize operational information into clear and accurate deliverables
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced and evolving operational environments
  • Ability to work effectively across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management tools
  • Demonstrated comfort working with new technologies and evolving digital tools, including AI-supported workflows and information systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Publishing, Sports Management, Media, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and delivery of sport publications and operational sport information materials for the Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • Coordinate publication timelines, version control, approvals, and distribution across sport publications to support timely and accurate delivery
  • Gather, validate, and synthesize inputs from Sport Managers and cross-functional partners to ensure complete and operationally accurate publication content
  • Ensure all publications reflect the approved Games-time editorial standards, terminology, branding, and visual identity guidelines throughout the publication lifecycle
  • Manage publication workflows, templates, and tracking systems across digital and print platforms
  • Support the integration and use of technology and AI-enabled solutions to improve publication workflows, information management, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all materials meet accessibility, sustainability, and operational requirements established by LA28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
  • Own publication updates during readiness exercises and Games-time operations
  • Assist with Games-time planning and operational support for the Sport Information Center (SIC) and Sport Information Desks (SID)
  • Develop centralized sport information resources and operational documentation to help educate functional areas on sport operations and Games-time requirements.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of Games-time roles for Sport Information Center(s)
  • Provide reports and updates on the status of related milestones and deliverables within the Sport department
  • Support and champion Sport education across the organization, providing opportunities and content to engage the workforce in learning about Olympic and Paralympic sports
  • Assist the Sport Planning team on additional projects and operational initiatives as required

Benefits

  • The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $95,000.00.
