Senior Associate Scientist, High Throughput Protein Production
About The Position
Xaira Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join its High-Throughput Protein Production team. The role focuses on automating, streamlining, and scaling protein production processes, applying expertise in protein expression and purification to develop and implement advanced workflows for antibody modalities. The position involves operating and optimizing high-throughput workflows, integrating automation platforms, developing and validating automated purification methods, resolving automation issues, and improving efficiency and yield. The scientist will also manage production data, document processes, analyze results, prepare reports and presentations, and collaborate across disciplines. Xaira is an AI-focused biotech startup developing generative AI models for protein and antibody therapeutics and foundation models for biology and disease. The company is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and London. Requirements
- Advanced degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in protein expression and purification.
- Strong operational understanding of automation, work cells, and protein science principles and methodologies.
- Experience with high-throughput mammalian expression systems.
- Experience with protein purification techniques, such as affinity chromatography and polishing steps.
- Proven ability to design and optimize protein purification protocols.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems and robotic platforms.
- Programming skills such as Python or R for scripting automation workflows.
