About The Position

As a trusted national architecture/engineering/construction consulting firm, Marx Okubo works with real estate owners, investors and lenders—at every point of the property lifecycle—to evaluate their building projects, solve complex challenges and implement tailored solutions. We value technical proficiency, innovation, dedication and achievement as well as collaboration, both within our organization and in our client interactions. We're building our project team in Denver, seeking a Senior Associate Architect. Our work covers most commercial building types, including office, retail, industrial, hotel/hospitality, and multi-family; focus on industrial and commercial (office, high rise multifamily) structure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in architecture or related field
  • Minimum 15 years' industry related experience at an architecture, engineering or construction company
  • Registered Architect in Colorado
  • Demonstrated experience in construction administration, owner’s representation or project management
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes, sequence, and activities
  • Strong technical skills in commercial construction are a must, including regional code and building enclosure knowledge
  • Forensic/investigative experience
  • Technical level of understanding of building types
  • Solid understanding of building materials and methods
  • Knowledge of construction contract types and forms
  • Communication is vital in all forms - Providing clear information both verbally and written, catered to the target audience, that demonstrates your knowledge, expertise, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines on fast-paced projects, remaining organized, and managing time efficiently
  • Desire for potential growth in leadership and management, with demonstrable leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% in and out of state as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Construction monitoring and/or construction administration experience is highly valued
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (FFHA and ADA) is preferred
  • Software proficiency in any of the following: Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical team member and project lead
  • Collaborate with the client, internal team, consultants and site contact
  • Take full ownership for an overall understanding of all aspects of a project relative to its scope, technical accuracy, potential risk, and client requirements
  • Review and analyze building construction and condition
  • Review and analyze contract documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, and budgets
  • Perform building evaluations, construction monitoring, and construction administration
  • Prepare reports of findings that are formal, detailed, and comprehensive
  • Build relationships and develop business
  • Site visits as needed, locally and regionally, in the range of 25-50%
