Export Development Canada (EDC) operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two in-office days per week, increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change). This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Montreal, Toronto, Brossard, Laval, Kitchener-Waterloo or Quebec City. EDC’s Mid‑Market Lending (MML) Program is regionally delivered and aligned with EDC’s 2030 Mid‑Market Segment Strategy. The program provides impactful senior and junior debt solutions to eligible Canadian companies seeking to expand internationally and grow their export revenues. The Quebec and Ontario Mid‑Market Lending workcells are seeking a Senior Associate to support the origination, underwriting, execution, and ongoing management of senior and junior debt transactions and the associated loan portfolio. This role is ideal for a developing debt professional who is eager to deepen their transaction experience while working closely with experienced members of the team and internal partners.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate lending, structured finance, credit analysis, investment banking, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated foundational experience in financial analysis, credit assessment, and financial modeling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Detail‑oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn within a team‑based transaction environment.
  • For roles based in Quebec, bilingualism (English/French) is mandatory.
  • Candidates must meet the requisite government security screening requirements.
  • Ability to work legally in Canada at the time of application (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).

Responsibilities

  • Support senior team members in evaluating, triaging, and progressing new financing opportunities in line with program objectives and risk appetite.
  • Contribute to transaction execution by assisting with financial analysis, credit assessment, and deal structuring.
  • Prepares financial models, cash flow analyses, and supporting materials for new transactions and portfolio reviews.
  • Assist in due diligence activities, including financial, legal, and business assessments.
  • Drafts sections of credit memoranda and supporting documentation for internal governance and decision‑making committees.
  • Support coordination with internal partners such as Legal, Business Development, Finance, and Advisory teams throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Assist with the ongoing monitoring and management of a portfolio of existing assets, including covenant tracking and risk monitoring.
