RSM Canada is looking for an International Tax Senior Associate to join our expanding team. This role provides an opportunity to join a specialty area focused on globally active clients both large and small. As a Tax Senior Associate, you will use your expertise to provide international tax advisory and compliance services to clients with cross-border structures and dealing with both inbound and outbound issues. Candidates must be curious, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have the desire to solve complex problems. As you grow, you will develop the analytical skills necessary for the effective diagnosis, development, and implementation of solutions to our clients' tax needs. With RSM, you will have the opportunity to develop and pursue creative approaches to solve client issues all while having the opportunity to learn from a team with a wide variety of skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of a BA/BS Degree – preferably in Accounting or a related field of study.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in Public Accounting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications.
  • Requires experience with international tax compliance including, but not limited to forms T1134, T2, T106, NR4, and Schedule 130.
  • Ability to travel to client sites if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, JD or LL.M.
  • Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare international information forms as part of completing complex Canadian income tax returns.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Canadian tax law, Canadian income tax regulations, CRA rulings and applicable caselaw.
  • Demonstrate an interest and capability to train junior staff (interns, associates, etc).
  • Dedicate time to coaching others in tax software, business processes, research skills, technical expertise; planning and project management skills while engaging and motivating team members and providing timely feedback.
  • Be responsible for client work performed on time and within budget.
  • Stay alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm and communicate such to the broader engagement team.
