About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Manager, International Tax to serve as a key in-house subject matter expert on U.S. international tax, who will also lead and develop overseas teams responsible for foreign income tax compliance and reporting. You will own critical elements of Workday’s U.S. international tax profile and foreign tax reporting, with a strong focus on operational excellence, people leadership, and scalable processes. You will work cross-functionally with various functional teams within the Tax Department, Controllership, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and regional finance teams. You will be a core collaborator who brings technical insight and foreign compliance and reporting experience into those discussions and helps operationalize planning decisions across global processes, systems, and teams. You will also champion process improvement, automation, and AI-assisted workflows, encouraging your team to leverage technology to improve quality, efficiency, and insight, while maintaining robust controls and review standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in U.S. international tax for multinational companies, including public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and/or in-house corporate tax roles.
  • Hands-on experience with ASC 740 for income taxes, including international and foreign components of the tax provision.
  • Strong experience overseeing or performing foreign corporate income tax compliance and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions, including coordination with overseas teams and external advisors.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including setting expectations, driving execution, helping the team prioritize multiple demands, reviewing work, and developing team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep technical understanding of U.S. international tax rules (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, foreign tax credits, anti-hybrid rules) and strong familiarity with foreign compliance, local statutory reporting requirements, and global tax developments (e.g., Pillar Two/global minimum tax).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex data and connect technical tax conclusions to business and financial impacts.
  • Experience with tax provision and compliance technology (e.g., ONESOURCE) and comfort working with ERP and data tools; Workday experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional partners, and to explain complex tax concepts in clear, business-focused language.
  • Curiosity and openness to new ways of working, including AI-assisted workflows and automation, with a track record of driving or contributing to process improvements.
  • Passion for tax transformation, including process enhancement, automation, and embracing AI-enabled skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage end-to-end U.S. international tax compliance, including technical analysis, coordination with external advisors, and serving as a key in-house subject matter expert on U.S. international tax.
  • Partner closely with the U.S. domestic compliance and ASC 740 tax provision team to ensure seamless alignment and address interdependencies across the U.S. compliance and reporting lifecycles, including long-range plan forecasting.
  • Assist in strengthening tax governance frameworks, policies, controls, and documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within the Tax department, and with Controllership, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and regional finance teams by providing data, analysis, and operational perspectives on U.S. international and foreign tax matters; help translate planning decisions into compliant and practical processes.
  • Conduct technical research and lead the team in monitoring U.S. and global tax law developments, partnering with Tax Planning team to assess potential impacts and support clear, well-documented recommendations to Tax Planning, Tax Reporting & Provision, and business partners.
  • Lead and develop overseas teams responsible for foreign corporate income tax compliance and related filings across multiple jurisdictions, driving timely, accurate submissions and clear communication and documentation of risks and issues.
  • Support external auditors on international and foreign tax aspects, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation of key judgments and controls.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and AI-assisted tools to streamline data collection, analytics, documentation, and recurring workflows, while maintaining appropriate review and governance.
