Baker Tilly is a leading advisory, tax and assurance firm. This role is within Baker Tilly's Development Advisory (DA) team as a Senior Associate, Capital Formation. The position supports the evaluation, structuring, and execution of renewable energy transactions across various energy transition technologies. The role involves leveraging financial modeling, transaction analysis, and market expertise to conduct due diligence, analyze project economics, and assess financing alternatives to support capital deployment decisions. The Senior Associate will work alongside other investment professionals and collaborate with tax- and energy-related disciplines to drive transactions from evaluation through close, navigating the evolving regulatory landscape of the renewable energy sector. Requirements

  • 4-year degree
  • 3 years professional experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of work experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, project finance, or consulting; Energy/Power industry exposure preferred.
  • Experience building financial models, including 3-statement and tax equity models, cash flow projections, and other financial analyses to support investment decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of professional and ethical conduct.
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate investment opportunities in renewable energy infrastructure, including solar, storage, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen, through financial modeling and detailed analysis of project economics, cash flows, tax attributes, and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Underwrite tax equity and other project finance transactions to optimize investor returns and capital efficiency.
  • Collaborate with developers, sponsors, legal counsel, tax advisors, lenders, and other counterparties to support transaction execution, including due diligence, structuring, negotiations, and closing activities.
  • Review project development assumptions, engineering reports, legal documentation, and third-party diligence materials to identify key investment risks.
  • Prepare Investment Committee Memoranda, as well as marketing and business development materials necessary for capital aggregation and deployment.
  • Conduct market research on financing structures, transaction activity, and regulatory developments related to renewable energy investments.
