About The Position

The Senior Associate Athletic Director reports directly to the Vice President for Athletics & Recreation and serves as a key member of the department's executive leadership team. This position plays a critical role in the overall management, strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and daily operations of Athletics and Recreation. The incumbent will work closely with the Vice President to provide executive leadership, advance departmental priorities, oversee financial operations, and support the execution of both short- and long-term strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a senior level administrator in intercollegiate athletics.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Experience overseeing athletic business operations, budgeting, procurement, or finance.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Sports Administration, Business Administration, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working within an NCAA Division II athletics program.
  • Experience overseeing athletic business operations, budgeting, procurement, or finance.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational management.
  • Strong analytical, financial, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation in the overall management, supervision, and leadership of the department.
  • Advise the VP for Athletics and Recreation on strategic initiatives, policy and procedure development, and the planning, allocation, and oversight of departmental resources.
  • Oversee the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics in absence of the Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure stability and sustainability of departmental budget in compliance with University policy and procedures.
  • Review, approve, and monitor departmental expenditures, contracts, travel, purchasing, and procurement activities to ensure compliance with University policies and sound fiscal stewardship.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost containment, and resource optimization while maintaining a high level of service to student-athletes and departmental stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of financial models, budget projections, and multi-year fiscal planning initiatives that support departmental strategic goals.
  • Serve as a representative for Athletics concerning external and internal audits.
  • Provide leadership to assigned intercollegiate athletics functions, including but not limited to medical services, risk management, student-athlete welfare, athletic conference compliance, academic success, human resources, Title IX compliance, business operations, and facility operations.
  • Provide direct supervision of selected sports teams and senior leadership team.
  • Ensure fiscal soundness and compliance with intercollegiate rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Manage internal and some external operations based on business needs and qualifications.
  • Serve as a member of the Athletic Department’s executive leadership team.
