About The Position
Saab, Inc. in East Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Assembler to join the Manufacturing and Production team. This role involves working from various technical documents to assemble products, using a range of hand and power tools, and performing modifications and reassemblies. The Senior Assembler will apply advanced electrical and mechanical assembly concepts to solve complex issues, understand and apply ESD principles, and operate various equipment. Limited travel may be required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 4+ years of relevant assembly or manufacturing experience.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions and assembly drawings.
- Ability to work with materials ranging from small, intricate components to larger, heavier parts.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs to elevated tower platforms.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors as required.
- Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working on manufacturing flow lines with multiple team members.
- Background in automotive mechanics or a related field.
- Comfortable operating automated equipment with an understanding of mechanical assembly and process flow.
- Experience that may include advanced support skills and extensive knowledge of tools, software, and related technologies.
Responsibilities
- Work from wire diagrams, engineering drawings (blueprints), sketches, and written or oral instructions to create initial layouts and accurately assemble products.
- Use hand and power tools as required to complete assemblies.
- Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble production or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications.
- Apply advanced electrical and mechanical assembly concepts to resolve complex issues and support company objectives.
- Understand and apply ESD principles and safeguarding requirements.
- Properly use hand tools such as torque wrenches, wire cutters, strippers, and crimpers.
- Independently identify and resolve assigned tasks.
- Operate equipment including fork trucks, automotive lifts, ladders, lifting platforms, and cranes.
