The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta’s interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta’s competitive wholesale electricity market. We are looking for a Senior ARS Monitoring Analyst to join our External Compliance Monitoring – Alberta Reliability Standards (ECM-ARS) team. Reporting to the Team Lead, ARS Monitoring Assurance, you will support and deliver the Alberta Risk-Based Compliance Monitoring Program (ARCMP), including monitoring activity planning, scoping, scheduling, tracking, and the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of internal and public compliance monitoring processes. In this role, you will apply expert-level knowledge of audit and assurance frameworks, along with strong project management capabilities and a solid understanding of the electricity industry regulatory framework, compliance monitoring, and enforcement processes. You will leverage your extensive experience interpreting and applying Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and/or North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards to support effective, risk-based compliance monitoring outcomes. Working closely with key internal stakeholders, you will lead and support critical aspects of the ARCMP and related monitoring activities, provide technical expertise on compliance monitoring methodologies, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of ARS monitoring processes and practices.
