About The Position

Provides overall supervision, leadership, and guidance to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure individuals receive the appropriate level of support and quality care. The Senior Area Manager is responsible for overseeing assigned residential homes and regularly traveling to Macon and Columbus to provide coverage, support, and oversight of homes in those areas as needed.

  • Developmental Disability Professional (DDP), CPR, First Aid and Driver License.
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience working with adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities, or in another related Human Services field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement opportunities for community connections and participation.
  • Plan and implement activities, curricula, and calendars.
  • Approve GER’ and submits CIR’s and Safety Plans per UCP and DBHDD policies.
  • Weekly review of Support Coordinator Ratings and coaching, referrals should be resolved in 15 days.
  • Ensure implementation of all documentation, such as data collection, forms, and progress notes.
  • Oversee program area and ensure all safety guidelines and requirements are met. Ensure the residential homes are safe (chemicals locked, exits cleared, etc.)
  • Weekly audit of individual records to include both electronic and paper documentation (including but not limited to daily notes, goal tracking, health related documentation, etc.)
  • Communicate with residential provider and/or family.
  • Monitor maintenance of equipment.
  • Monitor residential homes for appropriate activities and levels of interactions.
  • Runs and audits biweekly reports of all Therap documentation to include but is not limited to shift notes, ISP goal tracking and bowel tracking to ensure they are present and content is thorough and accurate.
  • Approve timecards and leave requests.
  • Monitor/maintain necessary paperwork related to payroll for individuals as appropriate.
  • Participate in team meetings as directed by supervisor.
  • Implement and assist in the development of Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Attend all ISP meetings as the DDP.
  • Provide leadership to all employees.
  • Provide support in the program area when necessary and full coverage in the case of staff absences.
  • Provide support with personal care, such as toileting and feeding as necessary.
  • Oversee ordering of supplies and materials.
  • Attend joint meetings with other departments, such as Community Living, Nursing, Behavior, and QI.
  • Arrange and facilitate monthly department meetings and distribute minutes within a week of meeting.
  • Ensure that staff receive training as needed.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with individuals, families, co-workers, and community members.
  • Maintain objectivity in position to set appropriate limits while working with individuals.
  • Support individuals in their personal growth and development, respecting cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and individual differences.
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
