About The Position

Hoefer Welker is seeking Senior Architects with 10+ years of experience. The Senior Architect manages, designs, and delivers building projects through a proactive delivery process, working with in-house staff and outside AEC team members in accordance with office standards and processes. The role is involved from schematic design through construction, including reviewing shop drawings and submittals, coordinating consultants across project phases, and directing project production. The Senior Architect works closely with the Project Manager to execute project plans and supports, directs, and mentors staff. The role collaborates with consultants, contractors, and owners through design, construction, and post-occupancy; coordinates project personnel; and monitors project scope, schedule, budget, and status. It also contributes to architectural studies and design concepts, prepares reports and construction documents, supports permitting and cost development, observes construction for conformance with plans and specifications, and ensures quality assurance throughout the project. The position participates in conceptual design, provides support across the project lifecycle, serves as a subject matter expert on specialized systems, and represents the lead technical viewpoint on projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, or equivalent in education or experience.
10+ years of experience in architectural practice as a project architect on technical projects.
Architectural registration and a current license.
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use an insured personal vehicle in the course of employment.
Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, and ability to meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented and able to perform essential duties satisfactorily.
Strong leadership, decision-making, delegation, and mentoring skills.
Ability to provide high-quality, responsive design solutions and construction documentation in a variety of styles, with proven exceptional client service.
Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and personally driven to consistently meet project design and performance goals.
Ability to work independently and with people from various disciplines, and commitment to being an effective, contributing team player.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Project Manager to execute project plans.
Support, direct, and mentor staff in a collaborative team environment.
Collaborate proactively with consultants, contractors, and owners throughout design, construction, and post-occupancy to achieve client, project, and office goals.
Focus on client satisfaction and cultivate opportunities for future project-related services.
Coordinate and monitor project personnel and ensure job assignments support project requirements.
Maintain awareness of the scope, schedule, budget, and status of assigned projects.
Maintain client confidence through professionalism, accountability, and performance.
Conduct architectural studies; develop design concepts and criteria; and prepare reports, calculations, and detailed design and construction documents.
Conduct preliminary field surveys and develop designs and draft preliminary project plans.
Assist in developing statements of probable cost.
Participate in presenting plans and documents to governing and permitting authorities for land-use, zoning, and permit approvals.
Observe construction projects in progress and at completion for adherence to plans and specifications, and advise contractors on interpreting plans and specifications.
Prepare material, write construction specifications, and prepare detailed construction documents.
Ensure the quality assurance program is initiated and followed throughout the project.
Participate in conceptual design and provide support throughout the project.
Serve as a subject matter expert on specialized systems.
Liaise with project management, architects, and consultants.
Develop and represent the lead technical viewpoint on projects.
