About The Position

AECOM seeks a Licensed Architect for our growing NY Metro Building + Places team to work on interesting and challenging Federal projects for a variety of clients. This Architect position will be responsible for preparing program analysis, life safety code analysis, concept designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and project specifications. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings, coordinating technical and administrative activities with other disciplines and departments, and assisting in the training and evaluation of architectural and design/drafting personnel. The Senior Architect will also review and approve conceptual designs, assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques, and provide support coordinating project design, technical, and administrative activities for United States Corps of Engineers projects. This role requires working with multidiscipline teams to schedule, implement, and coordinate all aspects of architectural services from design to construction documents, leading and coordinating architectural work with engineering disciplines, and attending client presentations to communicate design intent. Responsibilities include performing project setup, drawing layout, modifications, and reviews within Revit, assisting in the preparation of work effort estimates for proposals, and providing regular updates on schedule and budget compliance. The Senior Architect will mentor junior staff and be responsible for determining technical objectives, developing solutions to complex technical problems, and reviewing construction documents for compliance with project requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus six (6) years of related Architecture experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with USACE and/or Federal DOD projects.
  • Professional License as an Architect (RA) is required.
  • United States Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Eight (8) years of strong technical skills and demonstrated experience in all phases of architecture project delivery.
  • NY RA License and additional Professional NJ License highly preferred.
  • NCAARB is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • United States Corps of Engineers NY District project experience with construction of new and renovation/upgrade of hangar/buildings, maintenance, training facilities (hands-on/simulators), Aviation facilities, Runways and Taxiways, Aircraft Fueling facilities/distribution, Industrial facilities, Vehicle Maintenance facilities, Research & design facilities (Armament, Munitions and Communications), Munitions and Storage facilities, Dining facilities, Academic Labs, Barracks/dormitories, Academic Facilities, Administrative Office Buildings.
  • Antarctic/Cold Region Construction design experience.
  • Experience with whole and/or partial building renovations which address interior re-configuration, life/safety, energy conservation, and utility systems.
  • Experience with architectural alterations which address new space requirements, programmed functions such as: maintenance/training/storage facilities, administrative spaces, and Squad/Ops.
  • Prior Design/Build experience a plus.
  • Professional experience using a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, Bentley MicroStation, Open Buildings, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator, MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare program analysis, life safety code analysis, concept designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required.
  • Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating in an assigned project.
  • Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
  • Review and approve conceptual designs.
  • Assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques.
  • Provide support coordinating project design, technical and administrative activities in the execution of United States Corps of Engineers projects.
  • Work with the multidiscipline teams of architects, engineers, and consultants to schedule, implement, and coordinate all aspects of architectural services from design to construction documents in compliance with office and client standards.
  • Lead and coordinate architectural work with engineering disciplines both in-house and with consultants.
  • Attend client presentation and progress meetings to communicate design intent and technical details.
  • Perform project setup, drawing layout, modifications, and reviews within Revit.
  • Assist in the preparation of work effort estimates of architectural services for proposals.
  • Provide regular updates with Project Managers for schedule and budget compliance for architectural services.
  • Mentor junior Architects and Designers and be responsible for determining technical objectives of project assignments in conjunction with project management and design principles.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Review construction documents for compliance with client/project requirements.
