About The Position

The Senior Appraisal Analyst is responsible for the appraisal assignments for commercial and residential real estate loans and maintains records within the appraisal management system. They order appraisals for real estate collateral in both the US and Mexico, select qualified vendors, and determine appropriate appraisal reports and review levels in accordance with bank policy and federal guidelines. The Senior Appraisal Analyst prioritizes and manages the appraisal workflow ensuring that appraisal, evaluation, and review assignments are completed in a timely manner. They facilitate communication between the appraisers, reviewers, and other parties involved while maintaining independence from lending, collections, and credit functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in real estate evaluation or appraisal, including real estate sales, research, and valuation.
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial appraisal practices, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing residential and/or commercial real estate appraisal reports for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products, Adobe Pro and other custom applications and systems in a rapidly changing business and technology environment.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced situations while sticking to and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to always maintain a high degree of ethical standards and complete confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Accounting or Finance degree strongly preferred.
  • Prior banking or similar financial services experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual— English/Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently orders appraisals for real estate collateral in both the US and Mexico using discretion in selecting appropriate individuals to perform these assignments.
  • Provides guidance on completion of appraisal/evaluation requests.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all appraisal reports are reviewed in adherence to bank policy and federal regulations.
  • Partners closely with department director on initiatives, process improvements, requests, workflow enhancements, and special projects.
  • Requests the release of Third-Party appraisals from another financial institution as required.
  • Approves vendor invoices and submits to accounting for vendor payments.
  • Creates and distributes a monthly VHF report for lending staff.
  • Contacts appraisers to obtain updated licenses, contact information, etc., to maintain status on approved appraisers.
  • Submits list of appraisers (vendors) yearly to Board of Directors for formal approval. Any subsequent additions are approved by Chief Credit Officer.
  • Administrator for the RIMS appraisal management software program which includes, but not limited to, setting up and training new users on the appraisal management software (RIMS), managing upgrades to the software system, and resolving reported problems related to RIMS.
  • Creates reports as needed either by department director and/or bank management.
  • Completes administrative tasks effectively and on time, supports company goals and values, and benefits the bank through outside activities.
