About The Position

Juniper Square is hiring an Applied AI Engineer to build and operate AI-powered internal solutions, initially addressing leadership and business-unit needs and potentially expanding to client-facing work as the platform matures. The role owns delivery end to end: partnering with internal stakeholders to understand problems, defining requirements and scope, designing and building solutions, deploying them, and operating and improving them after launch. It combines AI-first application development, systems design, and hands-on full-stack engineering with product judgment. Engineers work close to the people using their solutions, measure success through adoption and impact, and contribute reusable patterns to Applied AI’s component library.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional experience shipping production software end to end, including hands-on experience building AI-native applications or agents.
Strong systems design skills, including the ability to explain and whiteboard system components, trade-offs, and potential changes.
Full-stack engineering capability across data, services, user interfaces, and underlying infrastructure.
Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications on a major cloud provider, with working knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production monitoring.
Fluency with AI-assisted development and the depth to understand, debug, and defend everything shipped.
Ability to translate ambiguous internal stakeholder needs into requirements and deliver working software.
Strong product judgment in defining first-release scope, prioritizing, and determining when work is done.
Excellent written communication and ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.
Potential to work directly with clients as the team's scope grows.

Nice To Haves

Experience in private markets, financial services, or another regulated, data-sensitive domain.
Familiarity with application security and sensitive-data handling under contractual and SOC 2 obligations, including multi-tenant isolation.
Experience building evaluation and regression testing for non-deterministic systems.
Experience with event-driven architectures and large-scale document processing.
Client-facing, consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering background.

Responsibilities

Partner with internal stakeholders, including executives and teams in sales, finance, HR, and marketing, to identify workflows where custom agents can create leverage.
Translate ambiguous business problems into clear requirements, scope, and acceptance criteria.
Own solutions throughout their lifecycle, from prototyping and stakeholder validation through hardening, deployment, and production rollout.
Design and build agentic systems, including retrieval and context design, tool and MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses, observability, and cost controls.
Design event-driven, scalable systems that ingest and process large volumes of data and documents.
Collaborate with platform, R&D, and product engineering teams when work touches core systems.
Make engineering trade-offs that balance speed with reliability, security, and maintainability, using reuse rather than shortcuts.
Support adoption and operation of deployed solutions, including post-launch support, iteration based on user feedback, and ongoing operation.
Produce documentation, train users, and manage rollouts to drive adoption.
Set the technical bar for less experienced engineers on projects and grow toward leading projects, including client-facing work as the team's scope develops.
