About The Position

Mural Group is recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing, venture-backed software and payments company for an Applied AI Engineer to build agents used by the company's customers every day. Each engineer owns a full product area, and work reaches customers the same week it is written. The role is onsite in New York, NY, five days per week, with pay of $220,000–$300,000 plus equity. Visa sponsorship is available, with H-1B transfers preferred.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience building and shipping AI products.
• Strong TypeScript and/or Python skills.
• Experience across the full AI lifecycle, including evaluations.
• Use AI coding tools to work in parallel.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• LLM context and harness engineering.
• LLM observability tooling.
• Postgres with vector search.

Responsibilities

• Build production LLM agents for pricing, marketing, and reporting.
• Extract structured data from messy real-world documents.
• Build embedding-based matching and retrieval.
• Own the evaluation and tracing harnesses.
• Take models from prototype to production and ship weekly.
