About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Application Engineer passionate about high-performance computing and AI for numerical simulations and physics. The role translates complex research into software that scientists use for discovery, working across research, engineering, and product teams. The engineer will turn learnings from research collaborations into feedback for engineering teams developing toolkits and libraries for accelerated super-resolution imaging, high-energy-density physics, plasma physics, and materials physics. The position offers the opportunity to build software infrastructure and tools for physics algorithms, numerical simulations, and data processing and analysis, supported by advanced computing. The work will support researchers, partners, and developers across the ecosystem and help accelerate scientific discovery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in computational, theoretical, or experimental physics; applied mathematics; computer science; or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience building HPC, AI, or machine-learning software for physics and numerical-simulation applications.
  • Strong experience with GPU-accelerated computing and modern machine-learning frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • High-impact publications in HPC and AI for numerical simulations, plasma physics, or imaging science.
  • Deep understanding of numerical simulations, such as particle-in-cell methods.
  • Experience with CUDA, parallel programming, or performance-focused software development.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI workflows for science and discovery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop workflows for experimental processing and analysis and numerical simulations in imaging science, plasma and high-energy physics, and materials science.
  • Profile applications and run benchmarks to identify bottlenecks, then recommend improvements to collaborators and product teams.
  • Build examples or sample applications for tutorials.
  • Represent NVIDIA at scientific conferences, workshops, and industry events.
  • Translate research-collaboration learnings into feedback for engineering teams working on toolkits and libraries.
