Senior Application Engineer
About The Position
The Senior Application Engineer will analyze customer technical specifications, coordinate in-house estimating activities, and support layouts with the layout engineer. This role involves understanding Visio schematics for paint process equipment, developing Electrical Purchased Equipment lists, and investigating alternate sources for equipment and subcontractors. The engineer will also develop detailed estimate spreadsheets, technical specifications, clarifications for bids, and project/job schedules. Responsibilities include supporting job handover and implementation through participation in planning meetings and design reviews, conducting technical presentations, and providing clarification to customers and other departments. Travel is approximately 15%.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Ten or more years of paint shop experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of process equipment electrical design
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Proficient with Visio
- Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
- Good time management skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good technical writing skills
- Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment
- Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
- Adaptable to change in a learning environment
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus
Responsibilities
- Analyze customer technical specifications
- Coordinate in-house estimating activities including relevant drawings and specifications
- Coordinate major electrical subcontractors for process equipment and conveyors
- Coordinate intercompany activities with offices in Germany and Mexico
- Support layouts with layout engineer
- Understand Visio schematics for paint process equipment
- Develop Electrical Purchased Equipment lists
- Investigate alternate sources for equipment and subcontractors
- Develop detailed estimate spreadsheets for projects and customer bid forms
- Develop technical specifications and clarifications for bids
- Develop project and job schedules

- Support job implementation by attending planning meetings, design reviews, etc.
- Conduct technical presentations and provide clarification to customers and other departments
