About The Position

The Senior Application Engineer, Sales & Marketing Technology is a hands-on technical practitioner and application owner responsible for building, managing, and supporting the full lifecycle of technology platforms that power our sales and marketing team, and related operational workflows across the organization. This role is explicitly a build-and-run position: the person in this seat personally designs & implements solutions, administers platforms day-to-day, resolves issues, and serves as the embedded technology partner for Sales, Marketing, and Operations — all within the same role. As a senior individual contributor, this position requires both the technical depth to architect and deliver complex solutions and the operational breadth to manage platforms, support end users, govern vendors, and drive adoption without relying on a large team behind them. Operating in the fast-paced wireless retail environment, this role wears many hats by design. On any given day, the Senior Application Engineer may be configuring a new Power App, triaging a platform incident, meeting with Sales leadership to scope a new capability, building a Copilot Studio agent, managing a vendor relationship, or training a business user — often across all of these in the same week. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient, business-savvy engineer who thrives in environments where initiative, adaptability, and deep platform ownership matter more than narrow specialization.

Requirements

  • Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Power Platform, including model-driven and canvas Power Apps, Power Automate cloud flows and RPA, Dataverse schema design, and custom connector development
  • Hands-on engineering experience with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate or Customer Insights (Data and Journeys), including configuration, customization, segmentation, real-time journeys, and activation workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to produce solution architecture artifacts — including architecture diagrams, data models, integration design documents, and technical specifications — for complex business application solutions
  • Experience both engineering and managing enterprise business applications in a retail, wireless, or sales-driven multi-location environment; comfortable owning the full application lifecycle including build, run, support, and vendor management in a lean team or solo capacity
  • Strong platform engineering and application management skills — including root cause analysis, performance diagnostics, incident management, user support triage, license and vendor governance, and day-to-day administration of business-critical SaaS and platform applications
  • Familiarity with integration engineering using REST/OData APIs, Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus), Dataverse connectors, and iPaaS platforms; experience integrating Moveworks or comparable conversational AI platforms with enterprise business systems via APIs and webhooks
  • Strong business partnership and relationship management skills — ability to serve as a trusted, embedded technology advisor to business leaders; translates technical concepts into plain business language and actively participates in business planning and operational discussions
  • Hands-on engineering experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, including custom agent and topic design, generative AI response configuration, Power Automate integration, and enterprise knowledge source grounding; practical experience with Moveworks or comparable conversational AI platforms, including skill development, system integrations, and conversational workflow engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience spanning application engineering, platform administration, and application management — candidates who have operated in both a builder and a run/support capacity are strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience delivering solutions on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform ecosystem is required; Azure integration services experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in wireless, retail, or multi-location SMB environments preferred.
  • Relevant certifications strongly valued: Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, Dynamics 365 Sales Functional Consultant Associate, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Integration Services Specialist, or Microsoft Copilot Studio credentials; Moveworks platform certifications or documented delivery experience valued

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the hands-on technical owner and day-to-day administrator for the sales and marketing application portfolio, including Microsoft Customer Insights (Journeys and Data), Power Apps, and Power Automate. Personally perform platform configuration, customization, environment management, release deployments, and routine administration — this is a doing role, not a directing role.
  • Design and govern the solution architecture to ensure platforms are performant, secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships, license assignments, contract renewals, and platform roadmap alignment for all owned applications.
  • Establish and enforce configuration management, environment strategy, and release governance practices across all managed platforms.
  • Serve as the organization’s fractional Power Platform owner under the accountability of the Director of Enterprise Architecture — owning tenant-level environment strategy, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, and platform governance standards.
  • Personally design, build, test, and deploy enhancements and net-new capabilities across sales and marketing applications — writing the code, configuring the flows, building the models, and owning the outcome end-to-end. In this environment, the Senior Application Engineer is the builder: there is no dedicated development team to hand work off to.
  • Own the full technical delivery lifecycle from solution design through unit testing, UAT facilitation, deployment, and post-go-live support.
  • Apply Power Platform best practices including custom connectors, model-driven and canvas app development, Dataverse data modeling, and Power Automate cloud flow design.
  • Balance delivery quality with the pragmatism required to move quickly in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Identify, architect, and implement automation and AI-enabled capabilities within sales and marketing workflows, serving as the hands-on engineering owner for both Microsoft Copilot Studio and Moveworks deployments.
  • For Copilot Studio, design and build custom copilot agents and topic flows that automate sales rep workflows, marketing operations tasks, lead qualification, and customer engagement actions; configure connectors, Power Automate integrations, and generative AI responses grounded in enterprise knowledge sources.
  • For Moveworks, define and engineer AI automation use cases that reduce friction across sales and marketing operations, including automated request handling, content retrieval, system action triggers, and proactive notifications; partner with the Moveworks platform team to build, test, and deploy skills and conversational workflows.
  • Evaluate AI use cases for technical feasibility, data readiness, and business value; translate approved use cases into production-grade engineered solutions with appropriate testing, monitoring, and governance controls.
  • Partner with AI Governance, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure all AI automation solutions are responsible, secure, auditable, and policy-compliant.
  • Serve as the primary technology partner and trusted point of contact for Sales, Marketing, and Operations business leaders — not just during project intake, but as an ongoing embedded partner who understands the business deeply and proactively identifies technology opportunities.
  • Conduct structured discovery, define technical requirements, and produce solution documentation including process flows, data maps, and functional specifications.
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into pragmatic, well-scoped engineering solutions, and communicate trade-offs and recommendations in plain business language.
  • Participate in business planning conversations, bring technology perspective to operational decisions, and manage stakeholder expectations across the full solution lifecycle from idea through steady-state support.
  • Architect, build, and personally maintain integrations between Customer Insights, Power Platform, and other third-party tools.
  • Own day-to-day application support for the managed portfolio — triaging user-reported issues, resolving platform defects, managing break-fix requests, and maintaining SLA commitments for business-critical systems.
  • Monitor integration health, data flow integrity, and system performance.
  • Lead incident resolution for outages and high-severity issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions. This role is the first and primary line of technical support for owned platforms.
  • Own platform adoption end-to-end — from user onboarding and training delivery to change management and ongoing governance.
  • Develop quick reference guides and enablement sessions that help Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams get maximum value from owned platforms.
  • Manage platform governance including user access, security roles, data governance policies, and usage monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain solution documentation including design specifications, runbooks, data dictionaries, and integration maps — keeping documentation current as platforms evolve. In this role, the Senior Application Engineer is both the builder and the enabler: adoption success is as much a part of the job as technical delivery.
