About The Position

KēSTA I.T. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Application Developer for an immediate contract engagement with a government client. This role is hybrid and focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining solutions within the GenTax system. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in C#, SQL, Visual Studio, and API development, with a proven ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications. This position will support maintenance, upgrades, integrations, and new development, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing solutions within the GenTax system.
  • Strong proficiency with C# and SQL using Visual Studio.
  • Demonstrated experience consuming, updating, and creating SOAP and RESTful API services.
  • Strong experience gathering and analyzing functional requirements.
  • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience performing system analysis and workflow/process design.
  • Strong software development, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications within complex enterprise environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of tax-related business processes as they apply to the GenTax system.
  • Experience implementing data conversion processes during software version upgrades.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or mentorship to developers of varying experience levels.
  • Experience working as an IT Architect or in an architecture-focused role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a development team.
  • Experience with application maintenance, upgrades, integrations, and new development initiatives.
  • Knowledge of current software development technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize software applications within the GenTax system using C# and SQL.
  • Develop advanced SQL queries and implement solutions that support business and technical requirements.
  • Consume, update, and create SOAP and RESTful API services to support application integrations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional technical teams to gather, analyze, and document functional requirements.
  • Translate functional requirements into detailed technical specifications through system analysis and workflow/process design.
  • Design and implement solutions for maintenance, system upgrades, integrations, and new development projects.
  • Analyze existing processes and applications to identify problems, inefficiencies, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues involving application functionality, performance, databases, and system integrations.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure development work follows established coding standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Evaluate technical solutions and recommend improvements that enhance application performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Support data conversion activities associated with software version upgrades.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies and development practices and recommend innovative solutions when appropriate.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and developing team members.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members while also managing assignments independently.
  • Support application development across complex business processes and integrated enterprise systems.
