About The Position

DNA Production, LLC is seeking a Sr. Animal Scientists in Roseland, NE. This role involves working with senior leadership to develop improved practices in feeding, housing, sanitation, and parasite and disease control of pigs, sows, or gilts. The position also includes overseeing feeding, watering, and ventilation systems and advising senior leadership about improved products and techniques that could enhance swine health quality and production. Responsibilities also include assessment of animal health conditions, participation in administration of treatment and vaccines, overseeing selection and movement of all animals marked or moved, and entering data regarding such assessments using a PDA or computer. There may be active participation in gruel feeding, mat feeding, and handfeeding, documentation of all sow and gilt activity on each sow card, and/or participation in estrus detection of sows and gilts and insemination of sows and gilts. The role also involves assessing animal selection and breeding practices to increase production efficiency and improve animal quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary medicine, agricultural sciences, engineering, or an animal-based agriculture-related field (foreign equivalent accepted).
  • 2 years' as an animal scientist, farmworker, or related occupation.
  • 2 years' experience working with commercial swine or cattle operations.
