About The Position

Perchwell is seeking an experienced Android engineer to participate in all phases of the product development and deployment lifecycle for their mobile applications. Mobile technology is a crucial component of Perchwell's platform, as real estate professionals depend on it for on-the-go operations, including searching, collaborating, and closing deals. As a member of a small development team, the engineer will collaborate across the company to influence team dynamics, processes, and the technology stack as the business and technology expand. The role involves building exceptional Android experiences, leading significant initiatives from technical design to launch, enhancing product sales through a competitive mobile experience, contributing to Android architecture for scalability and maintainability, and collaborating with backend, product, design, and QA teams to deliver high-quality user experiences.

Requirements

4-6 years of professional Android development experience, with a strong command of Kotlin and the modern Android ecosystem (Jetpack, Compose, Coroutines, dependency injection, etc).
Proven track record owning and delivering features from design through release, with a growing scope of impact across the codebase.
Solid understanding of mobile reliability and scalability, with experience identifying and resolving recurring issues.
Experience contributing to technical direction - helping define standards, participating in architectural decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Strong customer empathy - the ability to translate complex user needs into technical solutions that address both immediate problems and long-term product health.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders.
Strong collaboration with backend and product partners, translating business needs into technical execution.
Love ownership, iteration, and making things better every release.

Nice To Haves

Modular Android architecture - Experience designing and implementing feature modules, shared library modules, and dependency management strategies to support clean separation of concerns and fast build times.
Familiarity with backend systems and APIs, particularly in the context of designing robust and functional client-server contracts for mobile applications.
Continuous integration - Familiar with common tools and techniques for structuring and organizing mobile builds and automated testing tracks to improve quality and reduce developer cycle time.

Lead meaningful initiatives: Lead Android initiatives from technical design through launch, driving execution and ensuring quality while partnering with senior engineers and leadership on overall direction.
Enhance product sales: Our mobile experience is a competitive differentiator for new clients and a delightful extension of the Perchwell platform.
Contribute to Android architecture: Help shape the structure and setup of our codebase, advising on decisions to ensure it is scalable, maintainable, and testable to support faster feature development and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with backend, product, design, and QA to deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences.
