About The Position

The Senior Analytics Engineer will sit at the core of Vay’s Operations team, using data to support day-to-day decisions and working directly with onsite operational leaders. This high-impact hybrid analytics engineering and business intelligence role focuses on building analytics products that improve operational performance, efficiency, and customer experience. The role offers ownership of work that directly shapes how customer-facing services operate and scale.

The position owns analytics solutions end to end, from data modeling through dashboards and insight delivery. It serves as the primary data partner to Operations and Mobility Product, helping define KPIs, identify opportunities, and drive continuous improvement across fleet readiness, maintenance, charging, vehicle positioning, and overall operational efficiency. The role also develops self-service dashboards, alerts, and reporting interfaces, collaborates with Data Science on shared data practices and tooling, and balances fast, pragmatic delivery with scalable data foundations.

Requirements

• Strong end-to-end analytics ownership, including taking data products from concept through production.
• A proven track record of work directly improving business or operational outcomes.
• Expert-level SQL skills, including writing complex, performant queries.
• Strong dbt experience, including designing sustainable, reusable data models.
• Proficiency with BI tools such as Superset, Looker, or similar, and the ability to create clear, actionable dashboards.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Familiarity with modern ETL or reverse ETL tools, such as Airbyte and Hightouch.
• Familiarity with data flow or integration tools, such as NiFi and OpenFlow.
• Comfort handling light engineering work, including working with APIs, configuring visualization tools, and setting up integrations.
• Solid understanding of time-series data and operational metrics, ideally with exposure to observability or real-time monitoring.

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for automation or lightweight tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end analytics solutions, from SQL and dbt data modeling through dashboards and insight delivery.
• Partner with Operations and Mobility Product leaders to identify opportunities, define and refine KPIs, and drive continuous performance improvement.
• Deliver measurable operational impact across fleet readiness, maintenance performance, charging and vehicle positioning optimization, and overall efficiency.
• Design and maintain self-service dashboards, alerts, and reporting interfaces that provide Operations teams with real-time visibility.
• Translate business and operational questions into actionable data-driven solutions using domain context and product thinking.
• Collaborate with Data Science teams to align data practices, tooling, and standards across Vay.
• Move quickly, iterate often, and take ownership while balancing pragmatic delivery with scalable, long-term data foundations.
